Policy
From Informationism.org
[Note: this is a draft policy and may undergo radical revision at any time. If you want to contribute, right your idea on the discussion page and alert me to in on my user page or by sending me a message.]--Barnes 07:07, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
In Short Informationism.org is (or can be) everthing that Wikipedia is not. If you don't want all the restrictions of that thing then come here!
What Informationism.org is or could be includes:
1.1 A paper encyclopedia or book
1.2 A dictionary
1.3 A publisher of original thought
1.4 A soapbox
1.5 A mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files
1.6 A free host, blog, webspace provider or social networking site
1.7 A directory
1.8 An indiscriminate collection of information
1.9 A crystal ball
1.10 Censored
2 What the 'informationism community' can be:
2.1 A battleground
2.2 An experiment in anarchy
2.3 An experiment in democracy
2.4 An experiment in rule making
On the user pages the policy is that 'anything goes'. You can also create as many user pages as you can use. If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly, then DO submit it to your user pages. (As the user is free to revert ANY changes made) The only caveat to the 'anything goes' policy is that you can't violate the server rules, but they're not my rules, it's just that if they're broken the whole site could be deleted.
Apart from user pages the policy is:
1. GFE Good faith editing - This means that you should only make edits that are designed to improve or move closer to the truth as the case may be.
This means that acts of vandalism and craziness will result in blocking.
2. OPV Own Point of View (OPV) is an Informationism.org principle which states that all informationism articles must be written from your own point of view You may be thinking "How could I write from the point of view of someone other than my own", but don't worry some believe it possible. The reason for this is that if everyone is writing from their own point of view, it will simply be people's point of view and no one will need to contest the truth. Except via Justifiability
3. JUS Justifiability. The threshold for inclusion in Informationism.org is Truth not verifiability. That is someone must believe it to be true and they must be able to justify it if challenged. Note: this is only if challenged, otherwise OPV is the dominant principle. The idea here is that each statement if challenged would be able to be justified and further challenges to the justification would create a 'chain of justification' going right back to first principles. The First principles would be OPV and thus the chain is complete.
4. ORW Original research welcome. Informationism.org is the place for original research.
